FAQs

What is unique about POINTS?

POINTS offers proven curriculum for in-school ACT/SAT preparation. The program is designed by students for students and is both engaging for students and user-friendly for teachers. The curriculum is updated each year with input from a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction and a teacher who used the curriculum during the school day himself. It provides schools with an opportunity to improve its profile through an increased ACT/SAT average while helping students of all socioeconomic backgrounds achieve their dreams of college admissions and scholarships.

What is the “value added” by a partnership with POINTS?

The ability to offer a high-quality standardized test preparation course during the school day is attractive to both prospective students and current students, who can save a significant amount of money by taking the in-school course.

What should my school expect in regards to individual results and an improved school profile?

Results vary from school to school depending on the motivation of the students and dedication of the instructor, but the in-school ACT Prep course has produced median improvement of 3 composite points at our partner schools. The more students who take the course, the greater the impact that can be made on the school’s average scores. POINTS suggests participation by at least a third of students in the Junior class.

How do schools pay for this course?

Schools use a variety of funding sources, including designated state funding, private donations, and student fees to name a few.
